Stouthouse - Quentin Walter

Quentin Walter is a maverick!  Her watercolor paintings, collages, assemblages, and costumes are visceral.  Her work is in the collections of Horace Grant, city of New Smyrna Beach, Gettysburg College, Tampa Museum of Art, Villanova University and others.  Quentin’s grants include Adolph and Esther Gottlieb for $25,000, a Pollock-Krasner grant for $12,000, and various FL State and Creative Capitol grants.  Her residencies include the Fine Arts Work Center for 7 months, the Atlantic Center for the Arts, and the Vermont Studio Center.

Ms. Walter was born in 1948 in Bethesda, MD. She received her BA in Studio Arts in 1981 from Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA.  In the 1980s and1990s Ms. Walter lived in Harrisburg, PA and traveled to Jamaica, and Martinique and in 2008 to Cuba.

Today, Quentin Walter is Artistic Director of the nonprofit STOUTHOUSE, an artist’s residency in northern Indian River County, FL.  Pictured: the most recent artist-in-residence at STOUTHOUSE, Manuel Ojea.  The finished piece is in the STAF Art Collection!
